A Persona ride for singer Maher Zain

KUALA LUMPUR: The next time you spot a chiffon green Proton Persona in Shah Alam, Swedish singer of Lebanese origin, Maher Zain, may be the one behind the wheels.
Maher, who has been a hit with his Islamic songs, received the car from Proton Holdings Berhad for his use till Oct 16.
He will be in Malaysia for his two-day concert at the Shah Alam City Council Hall from Oct 14.
Proton Holdings managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said its decision to lend the car to Maher was in line with Proton’s market exposure in the Islamic nations.
“We may look at more partnerships in the future with Maher because this will be good for our branding mission,” he said at the handing over of the Proton car as the official transport for Maher.
The 29-year-old singer’s debut album Thank You Allah, released in November 2009 is a blend of rhythm and blues with traditional spiritual, soul and contemporary pop music to inspire the youths.
Maher said he picked Malaysia because the support and love from fans here had been tremendous.
“It is a long trip for me, but with Allah’s blessings and your support, I have made it here for the concert.”
