The Real Iron Throne

The Iron Throne in HBO’s Game of Thrones is quite an impressive and imposing throne. However, it doesn’t do justice to the one described in the novels. Made from a thousand beaten blades, this is how George R. R. Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, had envisioned it would look like:

By comparison, the pictured one from GoT must be 10 times smaller and looks tiny. It’s a good thing too. Jack Gleeson, who plays King Joffrey Baratheon, wouldn’t even be visible in such a large structure.

If you had bought the $30,000 iron throne replica we posted about earlier, you must be kicking yourself right now. Sorry. Though we believe a replica of this behemoth would be a little too expensive, even for you.
They could have built this for the series. However, finding a hall spacious enough and with doors large enough for it to go through, was the real challenge. Wonder why they didn’t just reuse the halls of Moria set from Fellowship of the Ring.

Any volunteers for building a life-size replica? My secret mountain lair is cavernous enough. Just missing 1000 steel blades and dragon’s fire.
